This video is on the collegiate tennis scene here in Phoenix, Arizona. Focusing on the Arizona State University tennis program, which is one of the premier programs here in the valley. This video story is extremely important to my multimedia project, which is on the pathway to professional tennis from Phoenix, Arizona. The reason this video is so important to my project is that it highlights one of the stages many players take to become professional tennis players: playing collegiate tennis. Interviewing Arizona State University Women’s Tennis assistant coach Diego Nava helped me understand the collegiate tennis ecosystem and how the recruitment process works to bring in the best players at ASU. Seeing the investment and growth in collegiate tennis in the valley shows that tennis can succeed as long as funding goes toward developing more academies and coaches to provide stability.
